The score
line didn't reflect the hard work and good play that St Mary's put
into this match, we were unlucky but played well against a strong
Cornish side. Failure to capitalise on the 14 players Redruth had
during the first half was a deciding factor.

We dominated the set pieces in the first half winning good lineout
and scrum ball but were unable to score due to very good defence
work by Redruth. Second half saw the visitors return to a full team
but this did not upset us as we continued to press forward for those
much needed points. We continued to dominate the lineouts and played
well in the second half, but our lack of aggression in the rucks
made it hard for us to get the points we deserved.
The backs had an excellent game with some great forward running,
quick hands & strong defending. Our forwards did well in the
scrums, using their power house strength, which St Mary’s
has become known for. Great jumping in the lineouts meant that we
were able to steal a lot of the visitor’s ball.

It was a
very good match for us, which we should be proud of. We can take
away a lot of positives from this match; our handling skills have
improved greatly, as has our supportive running.
Well done
girls!
