Former player Mike Dimambro has won the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the National Rugby Awards, Twickenham.
Mike and younger brother Greg both played for over a decade in the 1950's and 60's at St Mary's. Mike was also the club secretary and fixture secretary, and I'm sure Mike would still be active in the club had his work not taken him to Cambridge in 1964. At Cambridge Mike became a referee after retirement from playing and was still active until 2001. He was part of the Laws Laboratory at Cambridge whereby prospective law changes were trialled in the College Leagues. A more detailed review of his 60+ year involvement with rugby can be read in the attachment.
I'm told that his acceptance speech was littered with his happy memories at St Mary's.
The club is very proud of Mike, who visits the club whenever he is in the area, and his well-deserved award.
